Description
Course Overview
When the teachings of the Messenger began to spread at a rapid pace after the Companions it became necessary for those who intended to follow the teachings of the prophet to distinguish reports (known as hadith) based on their accuracy and authenticity. God inspired the Muslim community to dedicate themselves to this task tirelessly, and there arose a science of hadith classification that has not been seen in any community before or since this early community of Muslims.
Bustan al-Muhaddithin is a unique three-part series introducing the entire Hadith canon and the methodology of hadith scholars (muhaddithin). The course will be based on the famous work of Muhaddith Shah ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Dihlawi, entitled ‘Bustan al-Muhaddithin’ (Garden of Hadith Scholars), written in Persian in the early 19th Century.
