This course focuses on the life and legacy of Abu Hanifa, and surveys the evolution of the Hanafi school in different regions of the Islamic world. It looks at the traditional sources and discusses both the history and legend about the imam. The course evaluates the particular pattern of reasoning that distinguished Abu Hanifa’s fiqh from other methodologies.
