Introduction to Logic
Course Overview
This course will cover the basic principles of Logic, based on Shaykh Akram Nadwi’s new book, Mabadi al-Mantiq. This book is part of a series of primers which introduce students to the Islamic Sciences. Logic is a preliminary discipline which concerns itself with establishing a framework for logical reasoning and argumentation through the development of sound definitions, reasoned statements and proofs. It is an important pre-requisite for the study of many other Islamic sciences, including Arabic Rhetoric, Usul al-Fiqh and Theology, and an indispensable tool for strengthening one’s own capacity for rigorous thinking.
